EXTRACTION
20
Having heated the machine and filled the filter with coffee
you are now ready to make your espresso.
1. Locate the filter holder (7) into the brewhead (6).
2. Ensure that the filter holder is square and well
seated in the brewhead, then rotate the handle to the
right as far as possible. You will feel it locate in place.
IMPORTANT: Do not force it or you may damage the
brewhead gasket (6). If it doesn't turn easily, try again
as the filter holder may not be properly located in the
brewhead.
3. Place 1 or 2 warmed cups under the nozzles of the
filter holder. Make sure your cups are directly under
both nozzles or your espresso will pour away into the
drip tray (8).
MAKING THE ESPRESSO
Your Dualit machine will fit either an espresso
cup or a full-size mug under the filter holder – if you
are making a long coffee you may wish to extract your
espresso directly into a mug or larger cup.
4. To pour your espresso, turn the control knob (5)
anticlockwise to the cup symbol. You will
hear the pump operating; this is quite
normal.
NOTE: The control knob (5) may be a harder to turn
when the machine is new. This will loosen with use.
5. When the coffee machine has reached the correct
temperature for extraction, the orange temperature
indicator light (12) will go out and the espresso will
trickle out of the filter nozzles. This may take a few
seconds.
6. When the cup has been filled to the desired level
(about 20 – 25 seconds for an espresso) turn the
control knob to the off position. Water will continue to
flow for about 5 seconds after the machine is switched
off.
