Below is an overview of the primary functions of the control wheels and buttons. Some controls have dual or triple func- tions according to the state of the menu or setting. A full description can be found further on in this manual.

Shutter release button

Activates camera and releases shutter.

FLASH / (CONTROL LOCK) button

Lock settings to avoid inadvertent change. Also accesses flash settings.

AF button

Accesses focus modes.

DRIVE button

Accesses the various drive (film frame advance) modes.

Front control wheel

Accesses and changes various settings.

MENU button

Accesses menu.

Illumination button

Illuminates grip LCD.

ON.OFF (PROFILES/ESC) button

Turns the camera on and off. Accesses Profiles and acts as escape button for other functions.

Rear control wheel

Accesses and changes various settings.

M.UP button

Raises and lowers mirror. Can be reassigned to another function.

Remote release cord port

For attaching a remote release cord (electrical).

STOP DOWN button

Stops down aperture to current setting. Can be reassigned to an- other function.

AE-L button

Locks light reading made in both automatic and manual exposure modes. Can be reassigned to an- other function.

Film wind-off button

Winds off film before film is finished.

USER button

User assignable-function button.

Eyesight correction adjustment wheel

Personal eyesight adjustment facility.

EV correction adjustment button

Produces EV compensation.

EXP button

Accesses exposure mode and me- tering method.
