1Not all events that show up in the webtool appears in Event Manager.

2Not all events that show up in EFCM will appear in Event Manager.

3Need to configure the switch or proxy to send traps to the management server.

4Also applies to Sun StorEdge switches.

5Also applies to EMC Connectrix switches.

6To receive events from NetApp filers, you must add the management server address as an SNMP trap host on the NetApp filer.

7CIM alerts from HP EVA storage systems are unsupported in HP SIM since HTTP is unsupported in HP SIM and changing the HP SIM configuration to use HTTP is untested and the results are unknown. However, HP SIM and the management server do support SNMP events from HP EVA storage systems. CIM alerts are only reported by the management server if the connection is HTTP and not HTTPS, which is the default setup for HP EVA storage systems.

1.Start Command View EVA in a Web browser.

2.Select the EVA storage system from which you want to receive events.

3.Click the System Options button.

4.Click Configure Event Notification.

5.Check the box next to “All events” and then, click the Configure button.

6.Click the Notify All button.

7.Click Save Changes.

Keep in mind the following:

By default the management server displays events from all of the elements, except those from itself. If you want to view events from the management server

Select the All or <Product Name of the Management Server> option from the Show Element Type drop-down menu. See Selecting an Element Type for Events” on page 423 for more information about the menu options.

Click the Customize button next to the Show Element Type drop-down menu in Event Manager. Select the management server and then click OK.

When you are asked if you want to apply your changes, click Yes. Then, click the Apply Filters button.

The management server provides separate event notification for every event that is reported from the devices it is monitoring. Excessive notification could delay provisioning, as the providers are busy notifying the management server of the events. If you do not want the management server to be notified of every event, modify the event threshold of the devices to filter out some of the events. Refer to the documentation accompanying the device for more information about setting the threshold.

To receive events from Sun StorEdge or QLogic switches, verify the SNMP trap community string is set to public in SANbox Manager or through telnet. Also, make sure the SNMP traps are configured to be sent to the management server.
