Most broadcast video signals in the world are one of three standards:

NTSC (National Television Standards Committee)—a 60 Hz 525- line resolution standard used in North America, parts of South America, and Japan.

PAL (Phase Alternating Line)—a 50 Hz 768x576 resolution standard used in Europe, Australia, China, and some South American and African countries.
