2. The Web interface does not support the double-byte character set (DBCS)
languages.
The Web-based user interface communicates with the management and
configuration program that is part of the firmware that comes with the management
module. Youcan use this program to perform tasks such as:
vDefining the login IDs and passwords
vSelecting recipients for alert notification of specific events
vMonitoring the status of the BladeCenter unit and blade servers
vControlling the BladeCenter unit and blade servers
vAccessing the I/O modules to configure them
vChanging the drive startup sequence in a blade server
vSetting the date and time
vUsing a remote console for the blade servers
vChanging ownership of the keyboard, video, and mouse
vChanging ownership of the CD-ROM drive, diskette drive, and USB port. (The
CD-ROM drive and diskette drive in the BladeCenter unit are viewed as USB
devices by the blade server operating system.)
vActivating On Demand blade servers
Note: The IBM Director program is a system-management product that comes with
the BladeCenter unit. Toconfigure the remote alert recipients for IBM
Director over LAN, the remote alert recipient must be an IBM
Director-enabled server.
Youalso can use the management and configuration program to view some of the
blade server configuration settings. See “Using the management and configuration
program” on page42 for more information.
