Selecting the External Component

1 Press TUNER/LINE repeatedly until “LINE*” (external component) is selected.

The unit automatically turns on.

for a while.

*If you have changed the source name of the external component, the currently selected source name will appear (see page 26).

Each time you press the button, the source changes as follows:

2 Start playback on the external component.

To change the information shown in the main display

Each time you press DISP/CHARA on the remote control, the information in the main display changes as follows:

Adjusting the Input Level

If the sound from the component connected to the LINE IN jacks is too loud or is not loud enough when changing the source to the external component (without adjusting the volume level), you can change the input level through the LINE IN jacks.

On the unit ONLY:

1 When the source is “LINE*,” press and hold

REC MODE.

*If you have changed the source name of the external component, the currently selected source name will appear (see page 26).

2 Press SELECT ¢ or SELECT 4to select an appropriate input level.

Each time you press the button, the input level alternates between “LEVEL 1” and “LEVEL 2.”

LEVEL 1: Select this when the sound is not loud enough.

LEVEL 2: Select this when the sound is too loud.

3 Press SET to finish the adjustment.

“STORED” appears in the main display.

The selected input level will be kept in memory until you change it.

If “Level OVER!” appears in the main display during play

The input level is too high. Select “LEVEL 2” if the current level is “LEVEL 1.”

If the current level is “LEVEL 2,” adjust the output level on the external component.

“Level OVER!” will not appear if the “REC REMAIN” time or the clock is shown in the main display.
