What are MP3/WMA?

MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer 3) is one of digital audio compression standards.

• This player cannot play back MP3i and MP3 PRO formats.

WMA (Windows Media® Audio) is the digital audio compression format developed by Microsoft Corporation. WMA formatted files copy-protected with DRM cannot be decoded and played on this product.

This player cannot play back WMA files that are encoded with the following methods:

Lossless

Professional

Voice

IMPORTANT: Some players cannot play back WMA files. Such players skip WMA files. For in-depth information, see the instruction supplied with your car audio.

About Tag of MP3/WMA

This player can show the names of albums, artists (performer), and tracks of MP3/WMA Tag.

This player can handle only one-byte characters. Any other characters cannot be correctly displayed.

About formats of MP3/WMA

This player cannot play back the following files:

MP3/WMA files without extensions such as [.MP3] or [.WMA].

MP3/WMA files with the extensions other than [.MP3] or [.WMA].

Files which do not have MP3/WMA data.

MP3/WMA files are not encoded in an appropriate format. (this player skips the files after “Unplayable File” appears on the display).

MP3 files encoded with Layer 1/2 (this player skips the files after “Unplayable File” appears on the display).

WMA files which are not based upon Windows Media® Audio.

WMA formatted files copy-protected with DRM (this player skips the files after “Unplayable File” appears on the display).

Files which have the data such as WAVE, ATRAC3, etc.

About available formats of disc

This player cannot play back the following cases:

CD-R/RW on which the files are written with “Packet Write” method.

There are improper recording conditions (missing data, etc.) or media conditions (stain, scratch, warp, etc.).

There are unclosed sessions on CD-R/RW (this player skips unclosed sessions).
