Broadband Cable Analysis Measuring System MSK 33 /

MVG

The broadband cable analysis system consists of the antenna measuring instrument MSK 33 (including return path option) and the signal generator MVG 10.

Both units function in the frequency range from 4.0 MHz to 860 MHz.

It allows the measurement of cable systems in CATV range (down- stream) and in the return path range (upstream).

The measurement can also be carried out in the supplied cable.

The signal generator MVG 10 can wobbulate in many segment ranges, which means that ranges which are occupied can be locked by the generator, thus allowing TV reception not to be disturbed.

Therefore, before the measurement, make a frequency and level plan! The MVG 10 requires a bandwidth of ca. 500 kHz for transmitting the telemetric data, which means, that the set frequency points must have at least a distance of 250 kHz from the used signal on the cable sys- tem, provided the amplitudes of the used signal and MVG 10 signal are the same.

Before each frequency change, the MVG 10 transmits the next recep- tion frequency to the MSK 33 via a telemetric signal. In occupied ranges, which must not be swept, the MSK 33 can carry on the meas- urements in the same raster with maximum scanning speed. During this time, the MVG 10 pauses. The MSK 33 measures the transmitted level and represents in the spectrum. the measurement can be printed out via the built-in printer.
