2 BASIC CONCEPTS
The following information will provide you wit h the basic concepts
associated with scanning documents.
The Scanner offers eighteen (18) modes which may be defined for a
particular application or group of appli cations.
When you select a mode for use with a particu lar application, you are
selecting the format/appearance of the outp ut. Each mode consists of
definitions which affect the output of the Scanner. Required mode
definitions include index format, level t o follow level rules, etc. Optional
mode definitions include a variety of acces sory options, such as turning
the endorser on or off. The mode definiti ons are established during
installation.
Many of the optional mode definitions es tablished during installation
may be overridden using function codes. T he overrides are temporary,
unless during installation it is specifie d that the mode overrides be
saved. Upon execution of a function which overrides a prior definition, a
plus sign (+) will appear in the first lin e of the status display if the mode
overrides are saved.
Linking modes eliminates the requirement o f re-entering the Image
Address when changing from one mode to anot her. When two modes
are linked, you may change from one mode to another, maintaining the
Image Address.
Modes are linked by defining the same Inde x Format and Image
Address Fields (both number of fields and i ndividual field lengths) during
installation.
NOTE: The Level Rule option s defined during installation do not have to
be the same to link modes.
To change from one mode to another, mainta ining the Image Address,
use Function Code F91.
