Let's say you created an Action to send an e-mail notification when a Load Paper or Envelope condition occurs. But after a week, the e-mail recipient is receiving too many notifications, and often when he goes to a device, someone else has already loaded more paper. By using the Delay Time option, you can create a filter that will only send a notification if the Load Paper or Envelope condition has been active for an amount of time that you specify.

Likewise, if your Action is triggered by a Folder Alert, you can delay its execution by using the With a delay of: option.

If you want to create an Action that uses the Delay Time option:

1From the MarkVision Messenger Home screen, click Create New.

2Enter your Action information in the setup screens that follow, and then click .

3Enter the filter information:

If your Action is triggered by Device Status Alerts

•From the Filter Type screen, choose Trigger on Active.

•Under Delay Time, specify how long you want the Action to wait to execute its command. For example, type in 20 and select Minute(s) from the drop-down list.

If your Action is triggered by Folder Alerts

From the Filter Type screen, select Simple Filter.

Under with a delay of:, specify how long you want the Action to wait to execute its command. For example, type in 2, and then select Hour(s) from the drop-down list.

Click OK, and then complete the remaining steps.

Monitoring specific device paper trays

You can use a filter to narrow the Events that trigger your action.

Let's say you configured Tray 2 on all your devices for your company's letterhead and you only want to monitor for Load Paper or Envelope events on Tray 2. For this example, the Trigger on Active or the Trigger on Either Active or Clear filter is not sufficient.

To write a custom filter to monitor specific paper trays:

1From the MarkVision Messenger Home screen, click Create New.

2Enter your Action information in the setup screens that follow, and then click .

3From the Event Type screen, choose Printer Device Status Alerts, and then click .
