Les chauffe-eau sont conçus pour produire de l’eau chaude. Or le contact avec l’eau chauffée à la température nécessaire pour la lessive, le lavage de la vaisselle et autres corvées de nettoyage peut provoquer des blessures permanentes. Le risque de blessure permanente est plus élevé chez les per- sonnes âgées, les enfants et les personnes handicapées physiquement ou mentalement. Si ces personnes utilisent l’eau chaude ou si une loi provinciale ou un code local exige de limiter la température de l’eau chaude aux robinets, des précautions particulières doivent être prises. En plus de régler la température au minimum, on peut installer un dispositif tel qu’une vanne de mélange à la sortie du chauffe-eau ou un robinet mélangeur à chaque point d’utilisation d’eau chaude par ces personnes.
