Connecting DSP5000C, on page 40Calibration and Test are intended only for use by the factory or by service engineers.
ConnectionsYou will need to make four types of connection to the DSP5000C:
∙digital audio
∙communications
∙
∙AC power
Digital audio connections will need to be made to other components in your system. Communications connections have to be made to most of the other Meridian components in your system in order for them to act as one system. The connections to your DSP5000C are very important, and care should be taken in deciding which connections to make.
Connection details for a wide variety of systems are described in the sections following page 40.
SitingWe recommend that you now set up the system so that you can listen to music and adjust the position of the DSP5000Cs if necessary. This can be accomplished by following the instructions in the Getting going sheet, or those in the rest of this manual.
Vertical operationAlthough primarily intended for horizontal mounting, the DSP5000C can also be used in the vertical orientation. The best sound would result from a position which is 90 degrees clockwise from the ‘normal’ orientation. There is no provision for rotating the display – although the displays can be ‘blanked’. See page 14.
As a Centre ChannelThe DSP5000C is ideally suited as a
The location you choose will depend on whether you intend the surround system for music only or whether it is to be used in conjunction with a TV, monitor or video projector.
If the application is music only, place the speaker centrally between the main

If at all possible note the following guidelines:
∙Height of left – centre – right to be as even as possible.
∙Above a TV is vastly better than below.
∙Directly on a TV is OK, the DSP5000C is magnetically shielded.
∙Below a TV will work if adequate cooling is available.
∙In a custom cabinet it is entirely the responsibility of you and your dealer to ensure adequate ventilation. If in doubt this can determined by operating the unit and monitoring the temperature of the backplate which is also the heatsink.
∙Permanent wiring to a building is prohibited by most building codes.
1Preferably within 1 foot, 30cm.
