Understanding the Guide

Modes

Throughout this guide there are features that apply only to satellite mode and features that apply only to cellular mode (when you have an optional Cellular Cassette installed). For information on switching modes, see “Selecting a Mode” on page 169.

These conventions alert you to these features.

+—This symbol next to a feature name indicates that your phone must be in satellite mode to access it.

r—This symbol next to a feature name indicates that your phone must be in cellular mode to access it.

In addition look for the labels “Satellite Mode” or “Cellular Mode” in the margins for information related to each mode.

Key Presses

Key presses are represented in this guide using symbols so that you may locate and use the required sequence quickly. A sequence of key presses may be shown as follows:

M O C

This means you should press Mfollowed by Oand then C, in sequence, not simultaneously.

Prompts and Messages

Your phone responds to key presses by displaying either a prompt that guides you to the next action or a message confirming that your action is complete. Prompts and messages are represented in this guide in LCD style, for example: Enter PIN or Completed.

Tips

In the margins of your guide are useful hints and ways to improve your phone’s performance.
