Before Starting the Engine

CAUTION

The engine’s exhaust contains harmful emissions.

ALWAYS have adequate ventilation when operating. Direct exhaust away from nearby personnel.

WARNING

NEVER manually start the engine with the main or GFCI circuit breakers in the ON (closed) position.

1.Open the cabinet door and turn the fuel cock lever (Figure 14) to the “ON” position.

2.NEVER operate the generator with the doors open (Figure 15). Operation with the doors open may cause insufficient cooling of the unit, and engine damage may result. Close the doors for normal operation.

3.NEVER start the engine with the main circuit breaker in the ON position.Always place circuit breaker (Figure 16) in the OFF position before starting.

4.NEVER start the engine with the GFCI circuit breaker in the ON position. Always place circuit breaker (Figure 17) in the OFF position before starting the engine.

Starting the Engine

1.Insert the key into the starter switch (Figure 18) and turn it to the “RUN” position. Check to see that the oil pressure and charge Lights on the "Warning Lamp Unit Display " are lit. If either light is not lit, check the system and wiring (refer to the Engine Operation Manual).

2.Turn the ignition key to the HEAT position. When the preheat light goes off, turn the key to the START position to start the engine. As soon as the engine starts, release the key. The key will automatically return to the RUN position.

3.During winter or when the surrounding air temperature is cold, in situations where a load start is required, turn the key to the HEAT position, you must wait until the preheat light goes off.
