Basic fax

Redialing

If your fax call fails, your machine automatically redials it. In the Auto Redial mode,
your fax automatically redials the number every minute until one of the following hap-
pens:
It reaches the remote fax machine.
It has attempted the two redials and has still not connected.
While in the Auto Redial mode, the machine can continue to receive faxes and can
make as many as 100 fax transmissions.
Note: If you used either the speaker or a handset to dial, you must redial manu-
ally (see below).
Note: The default setting of redial attempts is as flowing:
Number of redials : 2 times
Redial interval : 1 minute.
You can change this setting as you want. See “Changing redial settings ,
page 3.75.
If the last redial attempt fails:
1The
LCD
will ask you if it should attempt the redials again:
2If you want the machine to attempt it again,
press [Yes].
Otherwise, press [No]. Your machine will print
and display error messages.

Redialing manually

You can alwa ys redial calls manually. And you must redial manually if you use
either the monitor speaker or an optional handset to dial the failed call.
To redial a fax call manually without using the monitor speaker or an optional
handset:
1Make sure the document is in the
ADF
and that the resolution and contrast
are set.
2Press [Redial],
START
.
To redial a fax call manually with the monitor speaker or an optional handset:
1Make sure the document is in the
ADF
and that the resolution and contrast
are set.
2Press
MONITOR
/
CALL
or lift the optional handset to get a dial tone.
3Press [Redial].
4When you hear fax tones from the remote unit, press
START
.
Note: If a person answers the phone, use the optional handset to tell that
person you’re sending a fax. When you hear fax tones, press
START
.
To redial a voice call manually using the optional handset:
1Lift the optional handset to get a dial tone.
2Press [Redial]. When the other person answers, use the optional handset to
speak to that person.

Canceling Commands

The Job Review function gives you the power to check on each job (or command) in
your machine’s memory. It also lets you cancel a command if you decide not to send
the document.
To cancel a command:
1Press
JOB REVIEW
&
COMM CANCEL
.
2If your machine is attempting to perform a
command now, it will appear on the display.
Skip to step 5.
Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
3Select “Reserved Transmission” and then
press [Enter]. The list of Reserved T ransmission
will appear.
4Select the command you want to cancel using the cursor key.
5Press [Erase].
To return your machine to standby mode, press
RESET
.
