Timing Signal Routing
The DAQ-STC chip provides a flexible interface for connecting timing
signals to other devices or external circuitry. The NI 6013/6014 uses the
ProgrammableFunction Input (PFI) pins on the I/O connector to connect
the devicet o external circuitry. Theseconnections are designed to enable
the NI 6013/6014 to both control and be controlled by other devices and
circuits.
The DAQ-STChas 13 internal timing signals that can be controlled by
an externalsource. These timing signals can also be controlled by signals
generated internallyto the DAQ-STC,and these selections are fully
softwarecon figurable.Fi gure 3-2 showsan example ofth e signal routing

Figure3-2 shows that CONVERT* can be generated from a number
ofsou rces, including the external signals PFI<0..9> and the internal signals
SampleInterval Counter TC and GPCTR0_OUT.
Manyof these timing signals are also available on the PFI pins, as indicated
in Chapter 4, Connecting Signals.
