5.For systems using the top bar, install it as follows.

!CAUTION

Use caution when inserting the top bar to prevent damage to the plastic clips on the DIMM socket.

Insert the bar into its pins on the retention mechanism and the heat sink. The flat side of the bar goes against the flat side of the bottom bar (see

Tthe above figure).

Install the previously removed DIMM module.

6.If the processor cartridge has an attached cooling fan, plug the fan cable into its connector (CPUFAN) on the system board.

7.Set the processor jumpers on the system board for the processor type installed (see “Processor Jumper Settings” in Section 2).

8.Install the left side cover (see “Replacing the Left Side Cover” earlier in this section).

9.Connect any peripherals and power cords, and power up the system.

5 1/4-Inch Device Removal

Remove a 5 1/4-inch device from the system unit as follows.

1.Remove the system left side cover, right side cover, and front panel. (See “Removing the Left Side Cover,” “Removing the Right Side Cover,” and “Removing the Front Panel” earlier in this section.)

2.Label and unplug all signal and power cables from the 5 1/4-inch device to be removed.

If the device is a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM and the system is equipped with audio, also unplug the audio cable from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

3.Remove the single screw on the right side of the chassis that secures the device to the chassis.

4.Remove the two screws on the left side that secure the device to the chassis (see the following figure).

5.Slide the device out of the front of the system unit.
