ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHY —AUTOFOCUS

The AF-ON Buttons

An alternative means of activating autofocus is to press the AF-ON button (A) or, when the shutter-release button for vertical shooting is unlocked, the AF-ON button for vertical shooting (B). Either operation has the same effect as pressing the shut- ter-release button halfway.

Using this setting, the camera can be programmed so that an autofocus operation can only be performed using the AF-ON buttons to avoid accidental shutter release.
