INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of a Peavey Electronics IASeries power amplifier. Please read this manual carefully (especially the important Precautions section located inside the front cover) as it contains information vital to the safe operation of the amplifier. Also, please fill out and return the enclosed product registration card.

The IASeries power amplifiers represent new levels of value and flexibility never before offered to the contracting market. The IASeries features models specifically designed to drive 4 ohm outputs,

70.7volt outputs, and 100 volt outputs. 70.7 and 100 volt outputs can be driven directly, eliminating the need for transformers or autoformers. These amplifiers cover almost every installed or distrib- uted sound power requirement.

With the IA Series, Peavey reliability and performance are combined with a unique plug-in module bay located on the back panel. This module bay can accommodate two single function modules or a dual function module to turn your amplifier into a very sophisticated audio processor. The IA Series amplifiers are ruggedly built from high quality components and feature comprehensive protection cir- cuits to protect your amplifier from those “real world” occurrences.

If you need set-up or operation assistance for this product, please call the Peavey Architectural Acoustics Customer Service department or your local Architectural Acoustics representative. We appreciate suggestions that may help us improve our products or services.

UNPACKING

Inspect the amplifier during unpacking. If you find any damage, notify your dealer immediately. Only the consignee may institute a claim with the carrier for damage incurred during shipping. Be sure to save the carton and all packing materials. Should you ever need to ship the unit back to Peavey Electronics, one of its service centers, or the dealer, use only the original factory packing.

AMPLIFIER CONFIGURATION

Peavey Electronics IA Series amplifiers accommodate input and control modules. The amplifiers are factory-configured with a single basic input module. The amplifier may be factory or dealer equipped with optional input modules, communication modules, combination modules, and AC mains and speaker load voltage and current consumption modules. The input and communication module(s) are accessible on the back panel of the amplifier. The voltage and current consumption module is factory-installed only and is internal. Sequential remote turn-on capability is a standard feature and is enhanced when under computer control.

INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING

IA Series amplifiers are 2- and 3-rack-space units of 15 3/4" (400mm) depth that mount in a stan- dard 19-inch rack. On all amplifiers, four front panel mounting holes are provided. Rear mounting ears are also provided on all amplifiers for additional support. Distance from the back of the front rack ear to the center of the rear mounting ear holes is 15 9/16" (395mm).

TO SET UP THE AMPLIFIER FOR BASIC USAGE:

1.Rack mount the amplifier in the location where it is to be used, remembering to allow for adequate access and cooling space. For more information, see the sections on Installation, Mounting, and Cooling Requirements.

2.Make input connections to the plugable terminal blocks on the input module. Use the proper connections for stereo, parallel, bridged mono, and grounding configuration. See the sections on Signal Mode Configuration and Input Module Connections for more information.

3.Connect speakers to the output barrier strip. Be sure to make the correct output connections for stereo, parallel or bridged mono configuration. See the section on Speaker Output Connections for more information.
