Appendix D: Installing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
You should connect each DVR5300 Series digital video recorder to a UPS (not supplied). UPS devices maintain a limited amount of backup battery
power in case the main power fails. The UPS should have a minimum rating of 450 VA for each DVR5300.
Nearly any UPS device can be used to supply backup battery power. Contact Pelco’s Product Support for information about Pelco-approved UPS
devices (refer to Appendix F: Troubleshooting on page43 for contact information).
NOTE: These instructions give general guidelines for connecting a UPS device to the DVR5300. Refer to the instructions that came with your
UPS to make sure you install the device properly.
1. Shut down the DVR5300 (refer to Unit Shutdown on page32).
2. Connect a power cord from the UPS to a standard wall socket or other power source.
3. Connect a power cord from the UPS to either the primary or the secondary power supply on the rear panel of the DVR5300. In this
configuration, the DVR5300 will not lose power if either the power source or the UPS fails.
4. Power up the UPS device.
5. Power up the DVR5300 (refer to Unit Startup on page31).
