Watching a Video CD
Theseare the basic steps necessar y to play a
VideoCD with your DVD player. More ad-
vancedVideo CD operation is explained start-
ingon page 26.
1 Toselect a desired disc press one of the
1–6buttons on the DVD player.
Playbackstarts.
#Theindicator of selectable disc holders light
inblue. If a disc is not inserted, you cannot select
thatdisc holder.
#Eachof the disc holders has corresponding
indicator.About the indicator status, refer to
Loadinga disc on page 15.
#Witha Video CD featuring the PBC (playback
control)function, a menu is displayed.
#Youcan also select a disc by pressing aor b
(DISC).
#Thisunit does not automatically change discs
evenif it reaches to the end of the currently play-
ingdisc. To change discs, press one of the 1–6
buttonson the DVD player or a/b(DISC).
2 Toskip back or forward to another
track,press oor p.
Pressingpskips to the start of the next
track.Pressing oonce skips to the start of
thecurrent track. Pressing it again will skip to
theprevious track.
#DuringPBC playback, a menu may be dis-
playedif you perform these operations.
3 Toperform fast forward or reverse,
pressand hold mor n.
Ifyou continue pressing mor nfor five
seconds,the color of the icon m/n
changesfrom white to blue. When this hap-
pens,fast reverse/fast forward continues even
ifyou release mor n. To resume playback
ata desired point, press f.
#Fastforward/fast reverse may not be possible
atcertain locations on some discs. If this hap-
pens,normal playback automatically resumes.
#Thereis no sound on fast forward or re-
verse.
PBC playback
WithVideo CDs featuring PBC (playback con-
trol)function, you can operate a menu.
%WhenPBC menu is displayed, press
0–10corresponding to a menu number to
startplayback.
!Toselect 3, press 3.
!Toselect 10, press 1and 0in order.
!Toselect 23, press 2and 3in order.
—Tojump 10 tracks ahead of the selected
one,press 10.
#PressingCcancels the input number.
#Youcan display the menu by touching
RETURNduring PBC playback. For details, refer
tothe instructions provided with the disc.
#Dependingon the discs, the menu may be
twoor more pages long. In such case, touch o
orpto display the next or previous menu.
Onceyou confirm a desired menu number, press
0–10to make the selection.
#Operationwith the joystick is not possible.
Notes
!PBCplayback of Video-CD cannot be can-
celled.
!Duringplayback of Video CDs featuring PBC
(PlaybackControl), search and time search
functionscannot be used nor can you select
therange for repeat play.
