Listening to MP3/WMA
Theseare the basic steps necessar y to play an
MP3/WMAwith your built-in DVD player. More
advancedMP3/WMA operation is explained
startingon the next page.
1 Toselect a desired disc press one of the
16buttons on the DVD player.
Playbackstarts.
#Theindicator of selectable disc holders light
inblue. If a disc is not inserted, you cannot select
thatdisc holder.
#Eachof the disc holders has corresponding
indicator.About the indicator status, refer to
Loadinga disc on page 15.
#Youcan also select a disc by pressing aor b
(DISC).
#Thisunit does not automatically change discs
evenif it reaches to the end of the currently play-
ingdisc. To change discs, press one of the 16
buttonson the DVD player or a/b(DISC).
2 Toselect a folder press aor b
(FOLDER).
#Toreturn to folder 001 (ROOT), press and hold
MEDIA.However, if folder 001 (ROOT) contains
nofiles, playback commences with folder 002.
#Youcannot select a folder that does not have
anMP3/WMA file recorded in it.
3 Toskip back or forward to another
track,press oor p.
Pressingpskips to the start of the next
track.Pressing oonce skips to the start of
thecurrent track. Pressing it again will skip to
theprevious track.
4 Toperform fast forward or reverse,
pressand hold mor n.
Ifyou continue pressing mor n, the icon
m/nisdisplayed. To resume playback at a
desiredpoint, release m/n.
#Thereis no sound on fast forward or reverse.
Notes
!Whenplaying discs with MP3/WMA files and
audiodata (CD-DA) such as CD-EXTRA and
MIXED-MODECDs, both types can be played
onlyby switching mode between MP3/WMA
andCD-DA by pressing MEDIA. This function
canbe operated only when the disc is playing.
!Ifyou have switched between playback of
MP3/WMAfiles and audio data (CD-DA), play-
backstarts at the first track on the disc.
!ThisDVD player can play back an MP3/WMA
filerecorded on CD-ROM. (Refer to page 49
forfiles that can be played back.)
!Thereis sometimes a delay between starting
updisc playback and the sound being issued.
Whenbeing read, DISC DATA READING is
displayed.
!Playbackis carried out in order of file number.
Foldersare skipped if they contain no files. (If
folder001 (ROOT) contains no files, playback
commenceswith folder 002.)
!Thisunit does not play back WMA files re-
cordedas VBR (variable bit rate).
!Ifthe inserted disc contains no files that can
beplayed back, NON-PLAYABLEDISC is dis-
played.
!Ifthe inserted disc contains WMA files that
areprotected by digital rights management
(DRM), TRACK SKIPPED is displayed while
theprotected file is skipped.
!Ifall the files on the inserted disc are secured
byDRM, PROTECTED CD is displayed.
!Whena disc contains both WMA files which
areprotected by DRM and audio data (CD-
DA),both types cannot be switched. In this
case,only audio data will be played back.
