Entering Text

Selecting a Text Input Mode

Yourphone provides convenient ways to enterwords,
letters, numbers, and symbols wheneveryou are
prompted to entertext (forexample, when adding a
Contacts entry orwhen using Sprint Mail and SMS Text
Messaging).
1. From a screen where you can entertext, press Mode
(right softkey)to change the text input mode.
2. Select one of the following options:
nT9 Wordto entertext using a predictive text system
that reduces the numberof keypresses required
while entering a word. (See page 28.)
nAlphabetto enter characters by using the Alphabet
mode. (See page 29.)
nSYMBOLto entersymbols. (See page 30.)
nSMILEYSto entersmile icons. (See page 30.)
nEmoticonsto enter “emoticons.”(See page 30.)
nWeb Shortcutto enter Web shortcuts (for example,
www., http://, or.com).
nPreset Msgsto enter preset messages. (See pages
30 and 114.)
nRecent Msgsto enter messages used recently.
nPasteList to paste copied orcut text (if applicable).
nFrom To Do to use words you added in your
Calendaras To Do.
nNUMBERto enter numbers.
nSignatureto enter yoursignature. (See page 41.)
nSelectLang. to select the language (English or
Spanish).
nDeleteAll to delete all text (if applicable).
nSelectTextto select stored text for copying orcutting
(if applicable).
nAddWord to store words that you frequently use.

nTextOptions to displaythe Text Entry settings menu.

Note The menus displayed vary according to the entry
field. Ifyou see triangles on the right ofthe menu,
you can press the right and left navigation keys to
switch between related menus.
