2.1Overview:HardwareInstallation
Hereisanoverviewof the tasks forinstalling the bridge hardware.The references
aretothe sectionsinthis chapterthatcontainthe detailed installation steps.
Setting theModbusPlusNodeAddress (Section 2.2)
Beforeinstalling the bridge,setitsModbusPlusnode address inswitcheson the
internalModbusPluscard.The cardisaccessible byremoving the bridges cover.
NotethateveryModbusPlusnode musthave a unique address on the network.
The bridge is shipped withthe node address set tothe defaultof1.
Setting theEthernetConnectorJumper(Section 2.3)
Beforeinstalling the bridge,setitsinternalEthernetConnectorjumperto define
the type ofphysicalcableconnection you will be making tothe Ethernet. The
bridge hastheseEthernetconnectors:
HIEEE 802.3 10Base--Tunshieldedtwisted paircable(UTPRJ--45)
HIEEE 802.3 10Base--5thickcable(AUIDB--15S)
HIEEE 802.3 10Base--2thincable(BNC).
The EthernetConnectorjumperhastwo positions:
HPosition 1:RJ--45/BNCconnection
HPosition 2:AUIconnection.
The bridge is shipped withthe jumperset tothe defaultRJ--45/BNCposition.
Mounting theBridgeHardware(Section 2.4)
The bridge can be physicallyinstalledonaverticalwall panelorhorizontalshelf
using mounting brackets supplied withthe bridge.Besureto provide clearance
forventilation and access tothe bridgesrearpanelconnectorsandindicators.
Connecting theNetwork and PowerCables (Section 2.5)
Connectthe Ethernetand ModbusPlus cablestothe bridgesrearpanel.Connect
the powercable and applypower.Thebridge hastheseconnectors:
HEthernet: RJ--45,AUIorBNC(according toyourConnectorJumpersetting).
HModbusPlus:TwoDB--9SfordualModbusPlusdropcables.
HPower:Three--prong110/220 Vac connector.
