40From the Signal Strength screen, click Finish if you are satisfied with the selected channel signal strength and exit. Click Back to return to the Windows Media Center signal strength meter.

Activating a CableCARD

Installing and activating a CablCARD™ typically requires an on-site visit from a cable technician. Contact your cable service provider to get and install a CableCARD. Once activated, the CableCARD cannot be transferred to another device, such as a TV or set-top box.

When the CableCARD is installed, ensure that your cable service technician understands that the installation is on a Windows Media Center system and provide any requested information. On the Windows Media Center Start screen, select Tasks > Settings, select TV, and then select Set Up TV Signal. Follow the on-screen steps to set up a TV signal with a CableCARD.

When the CableCARD is activated, configure Program Guide listings. On the Windows Media Center Start screen, select Tasks > Settings. Click TV, and then click Guide. Click Set Up Guide Listings and follow the steps on- screen.

Creating DVD-Video from HD Recorded Content

The following procedure provides informtion on how to make a DVD-Video disc from ATSC OTA-recorded high definition TV content using Media Center.

Important: Sony supports the lawful use of technology and does not endorse or encourage the use of our products for purposes other than those permitted by law. TV programs and commercial DVDs that have been encrypted (protected) by the broadcaster cannot be copied and played back on any other player other than the one recorded to.

The CD/DVD function has been grouped together with other common tasks in a single, convenient location on the Media Center Start menu called Tasks.

1From Tasks, toggle to burn cd/dvd.

Once you select burn cd/dvd, a series of screens appear instructing you to do the following:

Insert writable media compatible with your CD or DVD recorder.

Select a disc format.

Name the CD/DVD.
