Before you begin

Due to the resolution constraints from using Component Video on some standard definition TVs, if there is a need to recover your hard disk drive to its original out-of-the-box state, Sony recommends using the supplied HDMI cable and the HDMI-to-DVI adapter (if needed) with a display that supports HDMI or DVI-D input.

There are many things that can affect your computer’s performance, such as adding/removing software, the working condition of peripherals, and a virus downloaded from the Internet. If you are experiencing difficulties with your VGX-XL3 performance, it can be very difficult to troubleshoot. You may decide that the best option is to restore your system back to its original factory settings.

Note: Turn off screen savers and power management before you begin any of the VAIO® Hard Disk Drive Recovery options.
