About this Manual

This manual provides you with instructions on installing your FT48- B5382, and consists of the following sections:

Chapter 1: Provides an Introduction to the FT48-B5382 bare- bone, packing list, describes the external compo- nents, gives a table of key components, and provides block diagrams of the system.

Chapter 2: Covers procedures on installing the CPU, mem- ory modules, PCI cards and hard drives.

Chapter 3: Covers removal and replacement procedures for pre-installed components, introduces the fan board, LED control board, SAS/SATA backplane, and provides tables for pin definition.

Appendix: Describes the differences between mainboard BIOS and system BIOS. Provides the cable con- nection tables for reference of system setup. Installing instructions for the SMDC card, expan- sion hard drives, and server rackmounting are also given.

For information on the mainboard, please refer to the attached main- board user’s manual. You can find the detailed description about jumper and BIOS settings from the motherboard manual.
