Cleaning theInterior Oven
YourVikingoven featuresan automatic,self-cleaning cycle.
Duringthis cycle,the oven reacheselevatedtemperaturesin
orderto burn offsoil and deposits.An integralsmoke eliminator
helpsreduce odorsassociatedwith the soilburn-off.A powder
ashresidue is leftin the bottomof the oven aftercompletionof
theSelf-CleanCycle.
Thedoor latch isautomaticallyactivatedafter selectingthe Self-
Cleansetting.The latch ensuresthat thedoor cannot beopened
whilethe oven interioris at cleantemperatures.
BeforeUsing the Self-CleanCycle:
Remove the ovenracks and anyother items/utensilsfrom
theoven. The highheat generatedduring thecleaning cycle
candiscolor,warp, anddamage theseitems.
Do not use foil orliners in the ovenduring theSelf-Clean
Cycle.
Wipe off any largespills fromthe oven bottomand sides.
Never use ovencleaners insidea self-cleaningovenor on
raisedportionsof the oven door.
Some areas of theoven must be cleanedby handbefore the
cyclebegins.Soils in theseareas will be bakedon and very
difficult toclean if not removedfirst.
Clean the doorup to the gasket,the door frame,and up to
twoinches insidethe frame withdetergentand hot water.
Rinsethoroughlyand dry.
Usingthe Self-CleanCycle
1. Closethe doorcompletely.
2. Select“UPPEROVEN” or “LOWEROVEN.” “SELECT
MODE”will appearin the displayfor the selectedoven.
3. Press“SELF CLEAN”from theoven functioncontrolpanel.
4. Press“SET” or“ENTER.” At thistime, “SELFCLEAN” will
appearin the display.The door lock indicator lightwill
remainon untilthe Self-Cleanis completedor interrupted
andthe oven temperature dropsto a safe temperature.
A completecycletakes approximately3 1/2 hours, withan
additional30 minutes neededfor the ovento cool down
enoughfor the doorlatch to disengage.
NOTE:A whirringfan noise willbe heard duringthe Self-
CleanCycle andwill continueto run for the 3 1/2hour
durationof theSelf-CleanCycle.
5. Thetimer willcount down from4 hours. Whenthe cycle is
completed,press the “OFF”button for theselected oven.
6. Whenthe oven hascompletelycooled, openthe door and
removeany ash fromthe oven surfaceswitha damp cloth.
7. Tocancelor interruptthe self-cleaningcycle,press the
“OFF”button forthe selectedoven.
Cleaning and Maintenance
CAUTION
Donot touch theexteriorportionsof the oven afterself-cleaning
cyclehas begun,since someparts becomeextremelyhot to the
touch!Duringthe firstfew times theself-cleaningfeatureis used,
there maybe some odor and smoking from thecuring of the
binderin the high-densityinsulationused in theoven. When the
insulation is thoroughly cured, this odorwill disappear. During
subsequent self-cleaning cycles, you may sense an odor
characteristic of high temperatures. Keep the kitchen well-
ventedduringthe self-cleaningcycle.

Burnor ElectricalShock Hazard
Make sure all controls are OFF and oven is COOL before
cleaning. Failureto do so canresult in burnsor electricalshock.
