Troubleshooting
In some cases, the answering system is affec ted by the ringing system used by your
telephone service provider.
If you subscribe to voicemail servic e, change the number of rings so that your
answering system answers before your voicemail answe rs (page 42). To
determine how many rings activate your voicemail, p lease contact your telephone
service provider.
If there is a fax machine connected to the s ame telephone line, try disconn ecting the
fax machine. If that solves the problem, co nsult your fax machine documentat ion for
information on compatibility with a nswering systems.
The outgoing announcement is not clear.
When recording the announcement, m ake sure you speak in a normal tone of voice
towards the microphone of the handset.
Make sure there is no background noise when rec ording.
The answering system does not record messa ges.
Make sure the answering system is on.
When the answering machine memory is fu ll, it does not record new messages unt il
some old messages are deleted.

Press /VOL on the telephone base or / VOL on the hand set to increase the
speaker volume.
The messages on the answering system are in complete.
If a caller leaves a very long message, part of it m ay be lost when the answering
system disconnects the call after four m inutes.
If the memory on the answering system beco mes full during a message, the
answering system stops recording and disc onnects the call.
If the caller’s voice is very soft, the answe ring system may stop recording and
disconnect the call.
The answering system does not respond to remo te commands.
Make sure your remote access code is correc t (page 18).
