Using the air or exhaust control
(on some models)
The Air or Exhaust Control determines how air is circulated through the air conditioner. It allows you to circulate room air, Exhaust stale/smoky air, or bring in fresh air.
l To circulate room air (Figures 4 and 5) set Air or Exhaust Control to OFF/CLOSED. This setting allows continuous cooling.
lTo exhaust stale/smoky air set Air or Exhaust Control to
EXHAUST/OPEN.
lTo bring In fresh air set Air or Exhaust Control to
FRESH AIR.
NOTES:
lFor maximum cooling efficiency, set the Air or Exhaust Control to OFF/CLOSED.
lThe Air or Exhaust Control will only function when the Fan Control is turned to an “on”setting.
Changing’ air direction
The louvers in the top of the front panel allow you to control the direction of the cooled air. Use the tabs to direct the air up, down, right, left, or straight ahead. See Figure 6.
Energy saving tips
You can help save energy by reducing your air conditioner’s work load:
. Improve your home’s insulation. Seal doors and win- dows. Close fireplace flue.
lClose blinds or drapes on the sunny side of your house. Add awnings.
lCheck air filter often to make sure it is clean. l Do not block airflow with drapes or furniture.
lVentilate your attic. High temperatures in the attic add to the cooling load of your air conditioner.
lTry not to use
lTurn lights and appliances off when they are not needed. l Keep heat registers and
lUse exhaust/venting fans while cooking, bathing, and doing laundry.
