2Press down on the cartridge lever to raise the cartridge lid.

3Insert the cartridge.

4Close the lid.

5Lift the scanner unit, press the scanner support back until it slides into the slot, and close the scanner unit.

CAUTION: When closing the scanner unit, make sure to keep your hands out from underneath the scanner unit.

6Load paper, and press to print an alignment page.

7Load the printed alignment page on the scanner glass.

For more information, see “Loading original documents on the scanner glass” on page 30.

8Press again to align the cartridge.

Alignment Complete appears on the display.

If any other message appears, see “Error messages” on page 71.

Note: The scanner unit must be closed to start a new scan, print, copy, or fax job.
