Running Group 1 Tests

Be sure that the NIC is installed correctly. Then follow these steps to run the Group 1 tests:

1Boot the PC under DOS.

The Configuration and Diagnostic Program is a DOS application. It must be run in DOS, not in a DOS window. It will not run if memory managers or other device drivers have been loaded.

2Insert the 3Com diskette in the drive and make that the active drive.

3Enter this command at the DOS prompt to start the Configuration and Diagnostic Program:

4From the Test menu, select Run Tests.

The Run dialog box appears. The Start button is selected.

5To start the tests, press Enter.

The test results are displayed on the screen in the Results column.

Group 1 tests run ten times unless you specify otherwise. To run the tests continuously:

a Go to the Repetitions box on the Test Setup screen. b Select Continuous.

c Deselect Halt on Error in the Errors box.

For test descriptions, press F1 to see online Help.

6When you have finished testing the NIC, exit the Configuration and Diagnostic Program and reboot the PC.
