5-2 Troubleshooting
Quick Checklist
Listed below are some checks that can be used to identify problems associated with your drive.
If these checklists fail to identify your problem, try the troubleshooting flowchart.
Hardware Checks
Check the following:
■Does your system recognize the drive during POST?
■Have you checked the drive’s front panel LED display?
■Have you followed the suggested guidelines for drive cleaning?
■Does the drive pass the appropriate Compaq diagnostics?
■Has the drive has been configured correctly? If there are multiple drives, does each have a unique SCSI ID?
■Are the power and signal cables connected? Is the controller seated correctly?
Software Checks
Check the following:
■Have you checked your application to see if any errors have been reported?
■Have you checked for resource conflicts using the Compaq System Configuration Utility?
■Have the appropriate software drivers been installed?
