The following are examples of Stop messages:

‘The tape device reported an error on a request to read data from tape. Error reported: Bad data.’

‘Tape device “Archive 1” reported an error on a request to write data to tape. Error reported: Hardware error.’

‘The device, \Device\Tape0, is not ready for access yet.’

To obtain detailed information on an error reported to the System Event Log, use the following procedure:

1.Start the NT Event Viewer.

2.Select the Log drop-down menu.

3.Select System.

4.Highlight the entry for the tape drive to obtain the appropriate Event Detail display.
