straight stitching lines 3/8'" apart across the area to be smocked.

Knot the threads along one edge. Pull

the bobbin threads and distribute the

gathers evenly. Secure the threads at

the other end. Sew the decorative stitch between the gathering stitches. Pull out the gathering stitches,
