Cleaning the Hook Race and Feed Dogs

1Unplug the machine and remove the presser foot and needle. Open the face cover to allow room to remove the needle plate screw with a screwdriver. Remove the needle plate 1 and take out the bobbin.

2Lift up the bobbin holder 2 and remove it.

Brush out dust and lint inside the bobbin holder. Clean the feed dogs 3 and hook race 4 with a lint brush. Wipe out gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Line up the triangle marks 5 and position the bobbin holder, so that the notch fits next to the stopper 6 in the hook race.

Oiling the Machine

Unplug the machine. Open the face cover and oil the two points, as shown, at least once a year. One or two drops of oil is sufficient. Remove excess oil, otherwise it may stain the fabric. In case the machine has not been used for a long period, oil it before sewing. Use quality sewing machine oil.
