Power cables are connected according to the safety requirements for your region. Contact your Dell sales representative for specific power cabling and distribution requirements for your region.

Dell strongly recommends that you use uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs) to pro- tect your system from power failure, spikes, and brownouts. Separate the nodes’ power supplies onto multiple surge protectors (power strips) and UPS devices. For additional protection, plug the UPS devices into separate AC circuits, if possible. Con- sult the Installation and Troubleshooting Guide for your PowerEdge system for more information.

The Dell PowerEdge Cluster FE100 requires dual standby power supplies in the Pow- erVault storage system to provide maximum integrity of the storage processor write- cache. The standby power supply provides redundancy and allows write-caching to continue in the event that the primary power supply fails. Figures 2-3 and 2-4 show the location and cabling for the standby power supply units in the PowerVault system. Refer to your PowerVault documentation for additional information about the standby power supplies.
