If you are using an optional PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller for the internal hard-disk drives on either or both of your nodes, verify that the correct RAID controller driver is installed and running on the system(s) by performing the following procedure:

1.Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and double-click the SCSI Adapters icon.

2.Click the Drivers tab, and check that the PowerEdge RAID II Adapters driver shows a status of Started.

3.Open Windows NT Explorer, and view the winnt\system32\drivers directory.

NOTE: You must enable Show All Files in Windows Explorer to view the hidden

.sys files.

4.Right-click the pedge.sys file, click Properties, and click the Version tab. Verify that the file version is 2.04 or later.

You must assign the same drive letters to the shared hard-disk drives in Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition running on each node. The drive letters must be identical across all nodes to ensure that the nodes have the same view of the file system. To check the drive letters for the shared storage subsystem, run the Windows NT Disk Administrator utility on one node to find the drive letters for the shared hard-disk drives and compare the drive letters with those reported by the Windows NT Disk Administrator utility on the other node.

If the two systems do not see the same drive letter designation for the shared stor- age subsystems, the Microsoft Cluster Server application software was installed incorrectly. To correct this problem, uninstall Cluster Server, reassign the drive letters, and then reinstall Cluster Server. Refer to “Uninstalling Microsoft Cluster Server” found later in this chapter for instructions.

Service Packs provide the changes and enhancements made to the operating system since its general release. The current Service Pack used with Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition is Service Pack 3.

You can confirm that the correct Service Pack is running by observing the system messages during Windows NT start-up. To verify the Service Pack when the operat- ing system is running, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools (Common), and click Windows NT Diagnostics. Verify that the Service Pack version is listed on the General tab.
