When all drives have been assigned drive letters and formatted, the identical drive let- ters for the shared drives must be assigned on the second node. To do this, enter the Disk Administrator on the second node, right-click each drive, and assign the same drive letter to each drive that was assigned on the first node.

NOTE: Do not use Disk Administrator to set up RAID levels on the shared storage subsystem hard-disk drives.

The ftdisk driver enables software-based RAID, which can be configured using the Windows NT Disk Administrator after installing Windows NT. If you are not using hard- ware-based fault tolerance, Dell recommends that you use Disk Administrator to mirror (RAID level 1) the system partition.

The QLogic host bus adapter driver, ql2100.sys, must be version 1.19 or later. Refer to “QLogic Host Bus Adapter Driver” found later in this chapter for instructions on how to verify that this driver is installed.

If you need to install or upgrade the driver, use the following procedure:

1.Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and double-click the SCSI Adapters icon.

2.Click the Drivers tab, and click Have Disk.

3.Insert the QLogic driver disk provided with the adapter into the diskette drive and click OK.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the driver installation.

4.When the driver is installed, remove the driver diskette and restart the computer.

The RAID controller driver, pedge.sys, must be version 2.04 or later. Refer to “Optional RAID Controller Driver” found later in this chapter for instructions on how to verify that this driver is installed.
