SETTING UP THE PC TO ACCESS THE MODEM WEB PAGES

To configure and manage your Megabit Modem 410F and 420F F using the Web pages, you must set up your PC for access. You can set up in one of two ways:

when DHCP is disabled (default) for the modem, enter a static IP address for your PC that is on a subnet that can access the modem LAN port, as described on page 27

when DHCP is enabled for the modem, the PC and other devices on the LAN automatically obtain an IP address from the modem, as described on page 29

Setting Up a Static IP Address for the PC

When DHCP is disabled on the modem, set the TCP/IP configuration for the PC to

Specify an IP address. Then, enter an IP address for the PC NIC card that is on a subnet that can access the modem (see “Determining IP Addresses for the Subnet” on page 22).

See the example on page 28 for setting up the PC to obtain an address when using Microsoft Windows® 95. If you use an operating system other than Windows 95, refer to the appropriate operating system user documentation.
