Chapter 3: Local Administrative Options

Introduction

After you have successfully installed an IP telephone, you might be instructed to administer one of the options described in this chapter.

Note:

You can modify the settings file to set parameters for IP telephones that download their upgrade script and application files from the same TFTP server. See the section on “4600 Series IP Telephone Scripts and Application Files” in Chapter 4 of the 4600 Series IP Telephone LAN Administrator Guide.

Because the 4601 IP Telephone does not have a display, it is limited in its ability to support Local Administrative Procedures. Specifically, the only Local Administrative Procedures the 4601 supports are:

TEST

CHADDR (DHCP Client Hardware Address)

ALERT

TAG

In addition, because it lacks a display to provide visual feedback during data entry, the 4601 IP Telephone has unique data entry and feedback procedures. See Entering Data for the 4601 IP Telephone on page 36.
