Basic Receiving Operations

Select Answer Mode

There are four different answer modes for your MFC. You may choose the mode that best suits your needs by pressing the Mode button repeatedly until you have changed the FAX and FAX/TEL lights to the setting you want to use.

NOTE: The lighted indicators mean = not selected = is selected and lit.

1. MANUAL		FAX	You control the phone line and	Use this mode when you are using a

		Msg Ctr		out.
		FAX/TEL
3. FAX/TEL*		FAX	MFC controls the line and	Youcannothaveananswering
(fax and telephone)		TAD	automaticallyanswerseverycall.	machine on the same line, even if it is
		Msg Ctr	If the call is a fax it will receive	on a separate jack on the same line.
		FAX/TEL	the fax. If the call is not a fax it	You cannot use the telephone

*In FAX/TEL mode you must set the Ring Delay and F/T Ring Time. If you have extension phones on the line, set the Ring Delay to 4 rings.
