Preface
•When you unpack the ColorPASS from the carton for the first time, touch a metal area of the copier to discharge the static on your body.
•Before you remove the side panel(s) and handle internal components, touch a metal part of the ColorPASS.
•Leave new electronic components inside their antistatic bags until you are ready to install them. When you remove components from an antistatic bag, place them on a grounded antistatic surface,
•When you remove an electronic component, place it into an antistatic bag immediately. Do not walk across a carpet or vinyl floor while carrying an unprotected board.
•Do not damage or remove the gaskets affixed to one edge of the side panels and around the DVD (digital video disk) drive enclosure. The gaskets are designed to reduce possible electromagnetic interference (EMI).
•Handle printed circuit boards by their opposing edges only, and avoid touching the contacts on the edge of the board.
•Protect the thermal material on the base of the heatsink. If you remove the CPU cooling assembly (for instance, when transferring the CPU to a new motherboard), avoid touching the thermal material on the base of the heatsink. When setting the heatsink aside, set it
•Never set any liquid on or near the ColorPASS or the copier.
Tools you will need
To install or service the ColorPASS, you should bring the following tools and parts:
•ESD wrist grounding strap and antistatic mat
•Wire cutters
•Needlenose pliers
•#0 and #1 Phillips head screwdrivers
•Flathead screwdriver
You should also bring this guide, documentation for any optional service kits you may be installing, and any technical notes for the ColorPASS.
