_1 • When you useflash photography athigher ISO speeds, the
chances of white streaks appearing in the image increase
the closer you approach to the subject.
• Since a slow shutter speed isselected in dark places when
the flash is set to Off orSlow-Synchro, take care to avoid
blurring the image.
-Shooting in _Mode
Becareful to hold the camera still to avoid camera shake.
-Shooting in _v_ or_Mode
Fix the camera to a tripod to shoot in these modes since
the shutter speed will be slower than in the 0 mode. If
an image is dark in _ mode, reshooting it in II_[vlmode
will make it brighten
orange after pressing the shutter button halfway (The flash
will notfire when it is set to Off).
• The flash may take upto approximately 10 secondsto charge.
Therecharging time will vary with such factors asthe shooting
conditions and battery charge. Shotscannot be taken while
the flash is charging.
• The flash fires twice. The main flash follows a preparatory pre-
flash. The exposure reading obtained from the subject with the
pre-flash isused to set the optimal flash intensity for the main
flash, which is used to capture the image.
Red-Eye Reduction
• Light reflecting backfrom eyescanmake them appear red when
the flashis usedin dark areas.Under theseconditions, usethe red-
eyereduction mode. For this modeto beeffective, the subject
mustbe lookingright atthe red-eyereduction lamp.Tnj asking
them to look directlyat the lamp. Evenbetter resultscan be
obtained by shooting with the lenssetto awide angle, increasing
the lighting in indoor settings orapproaching closer tothe subject.
• The shutter will not activate for approximately 1 second after
the red-eye reduction lamp fires in order to improve the
effect. If you want a more immediate shutter response, set the
flashto t_1_,[] or _].
