Chapter 2 Switch Installation
Installing the Switch
Note The 19-inch rack adapter is not intended for application in an industrial environment and therefore it will
not meet the environmental performance specifications for the Cisco IE 3000 switch.
To install the switch in a rack, follow these steps:
Step 1 Use the four Phillips machine screws to securely attach the brackets to the rack. See Figure 2-25.

Step 2 Follow the steps described in the Installing the Switch on a DIN Rail, page 23.
Warning
To prevent bodily injury when mounting or servicing this unit in a rack, you must take special
precautions to ensure that the system remains stable. The following guidelines are provided to
ensure your safety:
• This unit should be mounted at the bottom of the rack if it is the only unit in t he rack.
• When mounting this unit in a partially filled rack, load the rack from t he bottom to the top with the heaviest
component at the bottom of the rack.
• If the rack is provided with stabilizing devices, install the stabilizers b efore mounting or servicing the unit in
the rack.
