Step 6 Use a Phillips screwdriver to insert and tighten the two screws on the faceplate of the line card, 3 to 5 in-lbs, as shown in Figure 15.

Caution Apply no more than 5 in-lbs of torque when tightening the screw.

Removing and Installing GBICs

Your Ethernet line card may have shipped with a GBIC installed. If your line card arrived without the GBIC installed and you need to install it now, or if you need to change your GBIC for another reason, use the procedures in these sections:

General GBIC Handling and Maintenance Guidelines, page 23

Removing the GBIC from an Ethernet Line Card, page 23

Inserting a GBIC into the Gigabit Ethernet Interface, page 24

Before you remove or install a GBIC, read the installation information in this section and the “Laser Safety” section on page 81 .

Note Cisco strongly recommends that you disconnect all fiber-optic cables before removing or installing a GBIC.
