Pin Signal Direction Description
11 29 BUSY OUT A HI GH signal indicates the
printer can not receive data.
The signal goes HIGH in the
following cases:
1) During data entry
(for each character)
2) During initialization
3) During self test,
demonstration, and
default-setting printing
4) During a printer-error state
12 28 PE OUT A HIGH sig nal indicates the
printer is in a pape r-out state
or in an error state.
13 2 8 SLCT OUT Pulled up to +5 V through
1 k resistance
14 30 AUTO

15 - NC - Not used
16 - GND - Logic ground level
17 - CHASSIS
GND - Printer’s chassis ground,
which is connected to the
logic ground.
18 - Logic H OUT Pulled up to +5 V through
3.9 k resistance
19-30 - GND - Twisted-pair return signal
ground level
31 30 INIT IN Whe n this signal goes LOW,
the printer controller is reset
to its state when the power is
first turned on and the print
buffer is cleared. This level is
normally HIGH; its p ulse width
must be more than 50 µs at
the receiving terminal.
