Inserting and Removing a Diskette

Follow these steps to insert and remove a diskette from the floppy disk drive.

1. Insert the diskette into the drive, as shown in Figure 3-3.

2.Push the diskette into the floppy drive until it clicks into place.

3.Remove the diskette by pressing the eject button (see Figure 3-1) and taking it out of the drive.

Using Device Files

Device files are special files that tell your system which pathway through the system hardware to use when communicating with a specific device. Device files also describe the type of device. You will need to know the special device file associated with your floppy disk drive so that you can write data to it or read data from it.

The device file names depend on the naming conventions of your
