Replacing the Removable Hard Drive Cage

To replace the removable hard drive cage, reverse the steps in the previous section.

Removing the Cooling Shield

A cooling shield covers bays 5 and 6 to provide proper cooling and EMI protection. The cooling shield must be removed before installing a hard drive in either of these bay locations.

To remove a cooling shield:

1.Shut down the operating system properly, then turn off the workstation and any external devices. Disconnect the power cord from the grounded AC outlet.

2.Remove the workstation access panel. See “Removing the Workstation Access Panel” in this chapter.

3.Remove the front bezel. See “Removing the Front Bezel” in this chapter.

4.Remove the two torx screws holding the cooling shield to the chassis. See the following illustration.
