Reliability, availability, and serviceability features

Three important computer design features are reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS). The RAS features help to ensure the integrity of the data that is stored in your server, the availability of the computer when you need it, and the ease with which you can diagnose and repair problems.

Your server has the following RAS features:

vActive Memory

vActive PCI-X (hot-plug) adapter slots

vAdvanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)

vAdvanced Desktop Management Interface (DMI) features

vAdvanced memory ECC, including Memory ProteXion, and multiple Chipkillcapability

vAutomatic error retry or recovery

vAuto-restart initial program load (IPL) power supply

vAutomatic server restart

vBuilt-in, menu-driven Configuration/Setup Utility and diagnostic programs

vCustomer-upgradable basic input/output system (BIOS) code

vDDR SDRAM with serial presence detect (SPD) and vital product data (VPD)

vDiagnostic support of Ethernet controllers

vError codes and messages

vError correcting code (ECC) protection on the L3 and XceL4 cache

vFailover Ethernet support

vFront-side buses (FSBs) parity protected

vHot-add memory

vHot-replace memory

vHot-swap and redundant cooling with fan speed-sensing capability

vHot-swap and redundant power supplies

vHot-swap hard disk drives

vLight path diagnostics

vMemory mirroring

vMicrosoft Windows Server family failover support

vMonitoring support for power-supply redundancy, temperature, voltage, and fan speed

vParity checking on the SCSI buses

vPower-on self-test (POST)

vProcessor serial number access

vRead-only memory (ROM) checksums

vRemote Supervisor Adapter or Remote Supervisor Adapter II-EXA to enable remote server management

vStandard cable presence detection

vStandby voltage for systems-management features and monitoring

vSystem error logging

vVital product data (VPD) (includes information stored in nonvolatile memory for easier remote viewing)

vWake on LAN® capability
